The Silver Keys is a dynamic multi-national clarinet quartet based in Scotland. The four original members met in 2018 when they were all students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of John Cushing. Building on the variety of their individual backgrounds (Scottish-American, English, Lithuanian, and Polish), the Silver Keys are passionate about exploring the rich traditions of music from all over the world and sharing its transformative power with all kinds of audiences in all kinds of settings.

Building on the variety of their individual backgrounds (Scottish-American, English, Lithuanian, and Polish), the Silver Keys are passionate about exploring the rich traditions of music from all over the world and sharing its transformative power with all kinds of audiences in all kinds of settings. They are a performing ensemble for Classical Musicians Scotland and Live Music Now Scotland. They were a recipient of the Scotland on Tour 2022-2023 Fund in which they got to perform in further afield places such as Skye and Portmahomack. They also received the Glasgow UNESCO City of Music Grant to help commission composer Ollie Hawker to write a piece, “The City Where No One Reads Books,” which was premiered in 2023 at the Glasgow Art Club.

The Silver Keys is unbound by genre and enjoy performing new works for clarinet quartet as well as arrangements of well-known pieces as they highlight the clarinet’s wide-ranging ability to perform all styles of music.
